Hello, my name is Fiona Poon. I have been an educator for over six years now, working with children ranging from elementary to high school. I started as a tutor while living in Hong Kong for my studies, working with students one-on-one and in small groups at day care centers. Three years later, I returned to the United States where I was born and raised and continued working as a tutor. When I started university, I began to work in school classrooms as a teacher assistant for two years with different grades and ages. Recently, I have also worked at an American after-school program called the YMCA as a Chinese Teacher in a dual language academic institution where the students are taught in English and Mandarin. My style of instruction combines activities such as games and role play with book studies as I find this to be the most effective and engaging method when working with children. It not only allows them to effortlessly learn the topic, they have fun doing so and always look forward to my next lesson! I am currently looking for tutoring work in Hainan, where I hope to spend some time before finishing my last year of university in California. I have dual citizenship in USA and Hong Kong with a Return Home Card, meaning I will not require a work visa.
